May 20 - LIPBONE REDDING

- Lipbone (https://youtu.be/w3MAgElOenw) uses nothing but his voice, guitar, harmonica and feet to create his signature, one-man-orchestra sound. He smudges the boundaries from funk to folk, jazz to world-beat, and does it all with virtuosity, intensity and a great deal of joy. An uncanny vocal range, a nylon string guitar, a wooden spoon duct-taped to his foot and a lifetime of stories are all he needs to get the party started.

June 26 - JIM KWESKIN - Kweskin (https://youtu.be/j42VIXMEaMo) is best known as a singer, bandleader and founder of the Jim Kweskin Jug Band. The Jug Band’s imitators were legion, including a San Francisco jug band that became the Grateful Dead and a New York jug band that became the Lovin’ Spoonful. Kweskin also created one of the bedrock guitar styles of the folk revival, adapting the ragtime-blues fingerpicking of artists like Blind Boy Fuller to the more complex chords of pop and jazz. He has maintained a remarkably consistent musical vision since his jug band days, continuing to explore traditional folk and blues with the sophisticated sensibility of a jazz musician and jazz with the communal simplicity of a folk artist.

July 22 - THEORY EXPATS, Hoot and Holler - Flying fingers and maple syrup voices blend into the harmonious melting pot that isTheory Expats (https://youtu.be/sue6aylib5w). Comprised of two accomplished singer-songwriters and a world-class mandolinist (2014 National Mandolin Champion, 2017 RockyGrass Mandolin Champion), the band met in a classical music theory class in Goshen, IN and naturally, they formed a jazz-pop-folk band. Hoot and Holler (https://youtu.be/4pHEoyu_6d0) is guitarist Mark Kilianski and fiddler Amy Alvey. Both are influenced by wordsmiths like Gillian Welch and Townes Van Zandt and to authentic mountain musicians like Roscoe Holcomb and Ola Belle Reed. After spending the better part of 2016 living in a camper van while playing shows across the country, they now call Asheville, NC their home.
